Final Exam

4. The one photo that has transformed how I view photography is here:

This photo I took changed how I view photography because I didn't realize how photography allowed people to view objects with a different outlook. I came into this class knowing little to nothing about this art form, and did my best to catch up. I didn't realize something as simple as a stone at our school could be photographed to actually look interesting. Now I reconsider taking photos of objects that I originally thought were too plain to capture, and think of how perhaps they could be seen from a different perspective.

5. Shape is a closed line that is flat and can express length and width whereas form deals with three-dimensional objects that can express length, width, and depth.
Shape:http://serlightstone.blogspot.com/2015/03/line.html
Form: http://serlightstone.blogspot.com/2015/03/form.html

6. Pattern is the repeating of an object or symbol all over the work of art whereas repetition works with pattern to make the work of art seem active. The repetition of elements of design creates unity within the work of art. My blog link for pattern and repetition:

7. Movement is what guides the viewer’s eye through the work of art. Movement can be directed through lines, edges, shape, and color within the work of art.
My example of movement is:
The different pinecones and colored strings cause the viewer to move his or her eye through the photo. The first colorful string catches your eye, and soon your eye is traveling across the photography, finding other pieces of color.

8. My best project was the one where we printed photos for the spring expo, here's the link: http://serlightstone.blogspot.com/2015/05/presentation-project-photos.html
I think it's my best work because I have used light, the positioning of the models, and other elements of art that I have learned about throughout this semester to take, what I believe, are some pretty good pictures. This project changed me because, since I came in the middle of the school year, I didn't believe I could be as good as everyone else when it came to photography. However, these photos give me the confidence to say I have done a decent job catching up and perhaps have the potential to continue improving and one day become a great photographer. I now see everything from a different perspective and wonder if things would make good pictures.

Student Website Reviews

Period 1:
http://aileenhhsu.weebly.com/

My favorite photo on this particular weebly website is the one where the girl is lying on the ground and pretending to blow bubbles. This is because I think the idea of the photo is very creative and imaginative and I like the contrast of the photo.

Period 3
http://missionphotoclass.weebly.com/

I think the best photo from this weebly website is the one with the water bottle. I believe this because it makes the person who's looking at the photo have to think.

Period 4:
http://caracastillouphotography.weebly.com/
I think the best photo of Cara's weebly website is the one with the pine cones. This is because the front pine cones are in focus, and the background is also of pine cones, but blurred.

MSJMC

Mission's multi-cultural week brings together people of all grades and backgrounds. People at lunch go around and buy foods from a wide range of options while hanging out with friends. Multi-cultural week seems to provide a fun, relaxed break during stressful school times, and is enjoyed by everyone. Each year, students not only look forward to the extended lunches and unlimited food of multi-cultural week, but the multi-cultural week assembly as well. There is growing anticipation throughout the school on how all the end-of-the-week multi-cultural performances will turn out.

Shutter Speed and Everything After

1. Fast or slow - why?
Fast shutter speed, because the other two vehicles in motion are not blurry.

2. One rule of composition per person

The most obvious rule of composition utilized in this photo is leading lines.

3. Element of Art - list one with an explanation

An element of art seen in this photo is color. The day is fairly gray and dull, so the bright primary colors on the vans cause them to stand out a emphasize the vehicles.

4. Principle of Design - list one with an explanation

Balance is a principle of design that really stands out in this photo. The divider in the center of the photo separates not only the roads, but the photo as well. Even though the van is knocked over, there is an ironic sense of stability given off by the picture.

This photo's overall feeling conveys a sense of unity. All the elements of art seem to fall together and complete the photo. Though the shack depicted is abandoned, the photo is able to bring out the hidden beauty.
